Can i use stones and rocks from my back yard for aquarium decoration?
My tank looks dull and i want to add somethings to it. Can i use rocks or stones from my back yard as decorations? or will it affect the water and kill my fish? is there something i have to do to the rocks?Thanks in advance

I suppose I could before adding fish , run the tank with the toy in it to make sure the ammonia & nitrite levels aren't wonky?

Safe do it yourself aquarium decorations?
I am thinking of putting some new decorations into my 10 gallon tank, but I want to make them myself. I'm guessing that seashells are not okay, or are they? And rocks, how can I tell if they are safe for my fish? I have a bag of that concrete mix stuff, could I use that to make some caves and stuff? Thanks in advance

Help with new aquarium decoration.?
Yesterday for Christmas I got a big Chinese Buddha statue for my fish tank. My tank is 26 gallons and I have about 10 guppies and about 4 other fish in there. Right now, I only have alot of fake plants and a small little sphinx decoration in there. I want to put in the Buddah this morning, but I want to make sure I do it right. I'm going to take out the sphinx decoration by the way.So my question is, how do I put in this very large decoration with stressing out my fish too much, and how should I go about cleaning it before I put it in the tank?Thank you everyone for all the answers

I don't want to keep buying all tthe decorations from the store because that gets really expensive. Does anyone have an idea for how to make safe, bright colored aquarium decor from stuff at home?

HELP! sharp corner on aquarium decoration!?
Ok so i ordered a decoration off a website and it got here today. I'm cleaning it right now but while i was looking at it had some sharp edges.. i mean not like knife sharp and i even tried the panty hose thing and the panty hose didn't rip. But i still wanna be careful not to cut my fish. so how do i make it smoother? can i use a nail file?I don't know what it's made out of and i have a betta.

Why are there brown spots on my aquarium decorations?
Hi, after the past two days, brown spots are appearing on my decorations. my leafy fake plant, my two clean rocks, a small castle, a sea shell, a chest, and my gravel. if I swipe my finger on it, it comes off. It doesn't look like alge because it's brown, not green, and they are circles, not a certain area. My fish seems fine.What should I do?

Why is it that no seems to put aquarium decorations in saltwater/reef tanks?
I was just wondering if anyone knows if you can put just normal decorations in saltwater tank like pirate ships or whatever, i know live rock is really a must have and i have seen fake corals and plants, just curiuous...I have the marine tanks and the thought crossed my mind only because it would be different, anyways thanks for the comments and i dont hink ill be adding a pirate ship to my reef any time soon...
